Famous British guitarist Eric Clapton will perform in Prague on May 4th next year

Prague, October 6 - Famous British guitarist, singer and composer Eric Clapton will perform in Prague on May 4 next year. The performance at the O2 Arena will be part of a series of his European concerts that will take place in Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. A remastered edition of his 1989 album Journeyman will be released in November this year, which will include four new bonus tracks from the original recording sessions. The song Pretending from the Journeyman album opened Clapton's last Prague performance, which took place three years ago. Ondřej Pojzl informed ČTK about this on behalf of the organizing agency Live Nation.

Clapton played in Prague three times in total, the first time in July 2006. He always performed his greatest hits, Layla, Cocaine or Crossroads, and at the last concert in 2022 his famous song Tears in Heaven, which he composed after the tragic death of his four-year-old son Conor, was also heard. The announcement of a tour for next year ended months of speculation about whether the 80-year-old Clapton would ever go on tour again.

The artist nicknamed Slowhand for his playing style released his album Journeyman: Deluxe Edition, which features the previously unreleased single "Forever," written by Jerry Williams, and three previously unreleased tracks. "I like to think of myself as a craftsman. I think I'm constantly working on perfecting my craft," Clapton said.

The musician is, among other things, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the recipient of 18 Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award and the Order of the British Empire. In 2003, the prestigious music magazine Rolling Stone ranked Eric Clapton fourth in its list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. Only Jimi Hendrix, Duane Allman and B. B. King finished ahead of him. Clapton's acoustic concert as part of the MTV Unplugged series in 1992 became one of the most watched television concerts and is still one of the most famous achievements of this British performer.

Since 1963, Clapton has played in many groups, most notably The Yardbirds, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and Cream, which wrote the history of rock, blues and rhythm and blues. As a solo artist, he has released 22 studio albums, the last of which was released last year under the title Meanwhile. In addition to six new songs, the album contains eight songs he has released since 2020, including those featuring Van Morrison and Jeff Beck.
