Warsaw, May 18 - Poland will launch a direct train connection with Croatia in June, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced today on the social network X. Poland's largest passenger rail operator PKP Intercity said in April that it was ready to launch the connection, but that it was waiting for the approval of the transit countries - the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia. Today, Tusk announced a positive decision.

"Finally, we have a direct train connection from Poland to Croatia! We are starting in June, four days a week. We will bring the details on Tuesday," the Polish Prime Minister wrote on the day of the first round of the presidential election in Poland.

Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak also made a similar statement on X. He reiterated that the PKP Intercity train will run to Croatia from June and that further details will be forthcoming.

PKP Intercity is the largest passenger rail operator in Poland. It connects all major cities and popular tourist destinations in Poland and various parts of Europe. The company carried 78.5 million passengers last year and is expected to increase that number to 88 million this year. It aims to increase passenger numbers to 110 million by 2030, PAP agency.
