Airline ticket sellers have seen a 15 percent increase in interest in autumn travel year-on-year. Interest in flights to exotic destinations, especially Asia, is growing. New direct routes, higher flight frequencies and favorable airfares thanks to competition between airlines have contributed to the interest in travel.
"Overall, during September and October, the number of passengers is growing by 15 percent, but in the case of Asia it is by 34 percent, and 43 percent more passengers are going to Africa than at this time last year. However, the majority, 80 percent, will still remain in Europe," said Daniela Chovancová from Kiwi.com. According to her, interest in Poland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland has increased.
Student Agency Travel, which sells the most tickets to Europe, also recorded a 15 percent year-on-year increase. European cities are dominated by London, which, according to the seller, replaced Paris in first place. This year, it ranks third behind Barcelona, where, like Malta, it sold more than 100 percent more tickets year-on-year. The seller also recorded an increase in Rome and Malaga.
